Bobby L. Badeaux
Educator / Civic Leader / Vietnam Veteran

A decorated Vietnam veteran, a career educator, and a recognized civic leader, Bobby Badeaux was twice elected by the citizens of his home town as a City / County (Parish) Councilman in Lafayette, LA.

Prior to beginning his professional career, however, Badeaux proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army, completing Basic Training, Leadership Training, Advanced Infantry Training, and Airborne (Paratrooper) Training, prior to graduating third in his class from the Army’s Non-Commissioned Officers School.  In addition, he qualified for, and completed, the rigorous and prestigious U.S. Army’s Ranger School, prior to being deployed to active duty in Vietnam(1970 to 1972).

In addition to earning his elite Ranger Tabb and Paratrooper Wings, Badeaux was also awarded the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), Air Medal, Aircraft Crewman’s Wings, Louisiana Accommodation Medal and Louisiana Honor Medal; as well as the Vietnam Service Medal and National Defense Medal.

In addition, while proudly serving overseas, Badeaux also earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for extraordinarily meritorious service.

Returning to the States, he continued to serve his country in the U.S. National Guard, while beginning a career in public education.  Committing himself to the development of youth in our community, Badeaux taught and coached at Sacred Heart High, Carencro High, Teurlings Catholic High and Acadian Middle School.  Recognized for his passion for education, Badeaux was subsequently promoted to Assistant Principal, and ultimately Principal of Edgar Martin Middle School.  He has also served for years as the Parish (County) wide Athletic Director for the entire Lafayette Parish School System, and is currently serving as Athletic Director for Saint Genevieve Middle School.

During this time, Badeaux was twice named Lafayette Parish Principal of the Year; was twice named South Louisiana Regional Principal of the Year; and was twice a finalist for State Principal of the Year.  In addition, he has coached championship teams in a variety of athletic endeavors and was named Coach of the Year in 1975.  He is a Member of Who’s Who in American Education and the National Association of Middle School Principals.

Moreover, in the midst of these other activities, Badeaux also served his community by twice standing for election to the Lafayette City / Parish Council, where was elected to two consecutive terms, representing District 6.  And he also found time to build a successful business career, having worked as a private business owner of a long-standing (20-plus-year) retail operation; in sales at an oil and gas services provider, Balon Valves; and in heavy construction as safety coordinator for Lafayette Steel Erector.

A graduate of Northside High School in Lafayette, Badeaux studied (and played collegiate basketball) for two years at Lee College in Baytown, TX before earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette and a master’s degree from Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA.

Bobby and his wife, Cathy, are the parents of four grown children, and are the proud grandparents of eleven grandchildren.

D. Dewitt Bateman

Dr. Dewitt M. Bateman
Entrepreneur / Physician / Community Leader

An accomplished leader in both the business and medical professions, Dr. Dewitt Bateman currently serves as the head of anesthesiology for two of the largest specialty care facilities in the State of Louisiana.

An active investor in the oil and gas industry, and the biotechnology fields, Dr. Bateman was also one of the first financial participants in Lou Resweber’s original Pelican Security Network (the precursor to Gulf West Security Network, which was successfully sold in two tranches to Vector Security of Pittsburgh, PA, and one other buyer, for a combined $21.7 million.

In the medical arena, Bateman earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge in 1986 before earning his Doctorate of Medicine at the LSU Medical Center (LSUMC) in New Orleans in 1991, and then completing his Residency at LSUMC / Charity Hospital in New Orleans in 1995, where he was elevated to Chief Resident and earned a Board Certification in Anesthesiology.

Dr. Bateman practiced anesthesiology for 2½ years at Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis, MS before moving to Women’s Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA in 1998.  He is currently a managing principal with Louisiana Anesthesiology Group, Inc., practicing at both Women’s and the Williamson Eye Center, and serving as Chief / Medical Director of the Department of Anesthesia.

In addition, he also currently serves as a Member of the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee of the Health Systems Improvement Co-Management Group ; as Chairman of the Operating Room Management Committee; as President of Woman’s Retail Ventures (a hospital / physician joint venture); and is an active Member of the American Board of Anesthesiology, the American Society of Anesthesia, and the Louisiana Society of Anesthesiologists.

Active in his community, Dr. Bateman has also previously served on Board of Directors for The Dunham School in Baton Rouge, LA.

Dewitt and his wife, Mary, are the parents of four grown children.

Damian D. Calato

Damian A. Calato

A beloved former radio and television broadcaster, Damian Calato went on to forge a second and third successful career, both in mass media management, and then in the financial services sector.

Beginning his career in local media, with radio station KPEL AM / FM in Lafayette, LA; Calato went on to join the on-air team at KLFY TV-10, the CBS network affiliate in Lafayette, where he was the long-time host of “Hello Acadiana.”

This experience quickly evolved into a career in media management, going from on-air anchor and TV personality to later serving as a Sales Manager, General Manager (at 34, the youngest GM to operate and manage a TV station in a Top 100 market), and then ultimately serving as Vice President & General Manager of WGMB, WVLA, WBRL and WZUP-TV, prior to becoming Vice President of Communications Corporation of America for all of Texas and Louisiana, with direct responsibility for overseeing 21 media markets in two states.

He then built yet another career, this one in financial planning, as Calato has worked for more than 30 years with business owners and executives in developing financial strategies to expand their business, protect their assets, and accumulate wealth.

He has served in increasing levels of management with two of the national preeminent and most highly respected financial planners, Northwestern Mutualand Mass Mutual Financial Group, the latter of which he currently serves as Director of Development and Sales Manager.  He is also the President and Owner of Dynamic Communications, a consulting and education firm; and he previously served as Director of Marketing for TYL Trading, the only commodity trading company based in Louisiana.

In 2012, Calato qualified to become a Long-Term Care (LTC) Specialist in 2012, and has demonstrated a passion for making LTC benefits a part of one’s retirement planning.  Having cared for his father, who had Alzheimer’s for over 10 ½ years, Calato learned firsthand the struggles a family goes through during these trying situations.

A believer in giving back to his community, Calato has developed numerous campaigns and fund-raising events in the Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas; and has been recognized for these efforts by earning the Volunteer Fund Raiser of Year award from Baton Rouge Philanthropy; being named to the prestigious Top 40 Business Executive Under 40 by the Baton Rouge Business Report; being awarded the Marketer of the Year award by Sales & Marketing Executives Internation, and earning the Rosemary Award granted by Alzheimer’s Services of the Capitol Area.

In addition, Calato continues to serve as President and / or as a Board Member for a number of area organizations, including: Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area; Serra Club of Baton Rouge; St. Jude Men’s Club; Kiwanis Club of Lafayette; Advisor to Catholic Community Radio, Closer Walk Ministries and NAIFA.

A graduate of the University of Louisiana in Lafayette, Calato also holds both a Series 6 and Series 63 Securities License along with Life & Health Insurance License.

Sean Clarke

After finishing high school  in California  –  and prior to earning both graduate and post graduate degrees in college  –  Clarke gained nearly two-and-a-half years of “hands-on” experience in the alarm business.

From early 1998 to mid 2000, Clarke was a licensed alarm installer / security service technician for Southland Security Systems in San Clemente, CA, one of the largest and most successful independent alarm companies in Orange County.  Founded in 1979, Southland is still independent and continues to provide security and fire alarm systems, video surveillance and monitoring, home automation and business integration services to residential and commercial customers in Southern California.

Most recently, Clarke served alternately as the Chairman of the Board, President, Chief Executive Officer and Corporate Secretary of this Company since its inception in October of 2013.

Clarke has remained a constant with the Company since its initial formation as SmooFi, Inc. (OTCQB: SMFI) in October of 2013; its conversion into NuLife Sciences, Inc. (OTCQB: NULF) in December of 2016; and through its merger with LJR Security Services, Inc.of Lafayette, LA in September of 2018.  Before the end of the calendar year 2018, LJR / NuLife expects to change its corporate name to Gulf West Security Network, Inc., and to change its stock trading symbol to “GWSN”.

As a measure of continuity, Clarke will remain as a valued and trusted Member of the Board of Directors of Gulf West on a going forward basis.

Between his initial experience as an alarm technician / installer  –  and his subsequent service as the Chief Executive of this Company  –  Clarke has compiled an impressive résumé of business accomplishments and professional achievements.

In addition to his role with this Company, Clarke has served as the sole Corporate Officer of EPunk, Inc. from June 2013 to February 2014.  In his role at EPunk, Clarke provided a variety of financial management, business administration and corporate governance services to EPunk, and a handful of small-to-medium-sized corporations.  This includes serving in the role of interim CEO for these firms, and includes providing accounting, supply chain management, operational advice and consulting services, as well as assistance with maintaining regulatory compliance and preparing securities filings.

From 2010 through June 2013, Mr. Clarke worked privately as an Accountant for Global Properties Corp. where he refined existing accounting systems, instituted internal controls and worked in direct support of the Director, board members and primary shareholders.

In 2010, he served as an Interim Controller for Omega Accounting Solutions, an Orange County, CA accounting firm where he administered financial reporting, budgeting and payroll services for small businesses; implemented and revised accounting systems; and provided accounting software solutions across functional departments. During this time, Clarke also created two cost containment strategies which resulted in the turn-around and retention of two key clients; and he also established AIA government compliant billing and payroll processes.

In 2009, as a contractor, Mr. Clarke functioned as the sole On-Site IT Administration and Payable Accountant for a $275 million organization that conducted nondestructive testing for major utilities. He coordinated with the Network Administrator to manage a $1.5 million network of servers and operational technology.

After his initial stint in the alarm industry, Clarke embarked on a career in sales at Yellow Book USA from 2000 to 2006. As an Assistant Sales Manager, he oversaw a 20-person sales team responsible for $15 million in annual sales. He facilitated management and recruitment, training, forecasting, and internal reporting responsibilities; and he administered a budget, and coordinated with major vendors to contain costs, implement new technology, and ensure product quality.  In addition, Clarke was critical to the retention of key accounts, and represented the division at local and superior court levels.

Clarke earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration (with an emphasis in Finance) from Chapman University in May, 2002.

He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University San Diego in May, 2008.

Louis J. Resweber

A former Corporate Officer and Board Member to a dozen NYSE and Nasdaq listed public companies, Resweber was also the Founder and Chairman / CEO of Pelican Security Network, the nation’s 36th largest security provider (out of 14,000 alarm companies nationwide).  He previously served as Chairman of Westmark Group (Nasdaq: WGHI); President & CEO of Network Acquisition (Nasdaq: NTWK); and Senior Vice President of United Companies Financial (NYSE: UC).

In fact, under Resweber's leadership, Pelican was ranked as the nation's 9th most productive security company – in terms of number of employees per customers served, an indication of operating efficiency.

In recognition of his contributions to the industry, Resweber was elected by his peers to the Boards of Directors of the Louisiana Life Safety & Security Association (LLSSA), and the Texas Security Alarm Dealers Association (TSADA), and he has also served on the boards of a number of other industry, community and philanthropic organizations.

During this time, Resweber also established a specialty finance company, Pelican Security Funding, which helped small, independent ("mom-and-pop") alarm dealers start up and remain in business; and which eventually led Resweber to serve as President of Argus Security in Lafayette; Advanced Security Protection in Baton Rouge; Alarm & Security in New Orleans; Bayou Security in Shreveport; Premier Fire & Security in Naples, FL; and CoSecurity Systems in Dallas, TX.

Previously, Resweber served as a Corporate Officer, Consultant and / or Board Member to nearly a dozen NYSE and NASDAQ-listed public companies, in a variety of industries. Resweber has served as Chairman of the Board of Westmark Group Holdings (NASDAQ: WGHI) in Boca Raton, FL, where he completed the company’s reorganization and conversion into a nationwide financial services concern.  As President & CEO of Network Acquisition (NASDAQ: NTWK), a telecommunications concern, Resweber engineered a series of 17 successful mergers and acquisitions, helping to convert the company into the fastest-growing participant in its industry.

As Senior Vice President, Capital Markets for United Companies Financial (NYSE: UC) Resweber was instrumental in developing a capitalization program that helped push UC's stock from $16 to $132 per share, making it the top growth stock in any industry on any exchange at that time.

Beginning his career in the energy sector, he served as Vice President of Arkla Gas (NYSE: ALG - now NRG / Reliant Energy) in Shreveport, LA; as Vice President of Entex Gas (NYSE: ETX - now CenterPoint Energy) in Houston, TX; and as Manager of Celeron Oil & Gas (NYSE: CEL - now Plains All American Pipeline) in Santa Barbara, CA, which ultimately merged with Goodyear Tire & Rubber to build the nation’s longest pipeline, twice as long as the famous Alaskan Pipeline.
